Therians experience their identity in many ways. Some are contherian (constantly integrated, no shifting), some suntherian (a gentle, dynamic baseline), some polytherian (more than one theriotype), and some cladotherian (identifying with a whole family of animals). This quiz reflects your shifting style.
Every shifting style is equally valid, and many people are a blend of several. If you're newly awakening or questioning, that's perfectly okay too — try the Therian, Otherkin or Otherhearted? quiz or read the therian glossary.
You'll see 18 statements over two pages, such as "My theriotype seems to change or rotate over different periods of my life". Rate each one on a seven-point scale from "Not me at all" to "That's so me", with "Sort of" as the neutral middle.
The statements look at two different things. Some ask how your animal side shows up: always present, drifting gently, or coming and going in distinct shifts. Others ask how many animals are involved, and which ones: one, several, a whole family, or an extinct species. Each statement adds to one or more styles, and a few subtract. For example, saying you have clear, distinct shifts lowers your contherian score, because contherians usually describe little or no shifting.
Each style gets its own percentage, worked out against the highest score it could have reached. Results are shown from highest to lowest, and because each style is scored separately, the percentages won't add up to 100.
Every result has a full guide. Tap More info on your results screen, or follow the links below:
Most people get a mix, and that's expected. These labels aren't boxes you pick one of. They describe different parts of your experience, and many therians use two together, such as a polytherian suntherian or a contherian cladotherian.
Here's a simple way to read your results. Look for your strongest result among contherian, suntherian and vacillant. That's your integration style. Then look separately at polytherian, cladotherian, polymorph and paleotherian, which describe which and how many animals. Both answers can be true at once.
If you're not sure which animal you are yet, the theriotype quiz is the natural next step. If shifting came up a lot in your answers, the shift quiz maps mental, phantom, sensory and other shifts on a chart. You can also browse the full therian types guide to compare all the terms side by side.

Yes, and many people are. Integration styles like contherian or suntherian can combine with labels like polytherian or cladotherian, which describe how many animals you identify as and which ones.
They're very close. Both describe an animal side whose intensity rises and falls without full shifts. Vacillant puts more weight on the smooth, sliding quality of those changes. Read the suntherian and vacillant guides and see which word fits better.
Not at all. Questioning is a normal part of finding out who you are, and nobody has to be certain right away. Our awakening guide has gentle ways to reflect.
No. No style is "more" therian than another. They simply describe different ways the same kind of identity can feel day to day.
